Northeaster

North-eastern winds
have whipped the pond to froth
the leaves to frenzy
left the birds confused.

There's a wild flying
from east to west
and north to south -
a hubbub of calls.

I think tomorrow's nests
must find such unmatched mates
as Cowbird and Cardinal
sheltering together
sore-perplexed!
