Crow Musings

a salt marsh
covered in reeds
spotlights a lone crow
black punctuation
on the muted scene

a cedar tree
near my bench by the sea
is crowned by a crow
as we both take in the view

the hospital parking lot
a lone crow
flies on the scene
alights on the post
with his back to me
doesn't stay long
seems unconcerned
if he's not worried
neither will I be

three boys who raised
three fledgling crows
peddle their bikes
crows perched on their backs
wings spread wide
black sails in the wind

a loud crash
against my window
two crows chase a pirate away
only blue and white feathers remain
don't mess with this black feathered society

no song, no excuses
in communion
crows defeat agression
when alone and assaulted
the cries plaintive, abrasive
a sad sacrifice
